Coaching Guidelines

 

   Objectives:

·               To improve the standard and enjoyment of all sailors at Adelaide Sailing Club

·               To encourage and add value to fair and competitive sailing

·               To enhance skill development as well as tactical and rules knowledge of all sailors

 

        To be approved by Sailing Development Group, Coaches must abide by the following:  

   Ø  Coaches must register with SDG and comply with

·               This procedure agreement

·               YSA Coaches Code Of Ethics

·               Complete and lodge with ASC Management a Police Check

·               Hold a current coaching qualification

·               Hold a Power Boat handling (or equivalent experience) qualification

·               Run debrief sessions for the class / classes / course area coached

·               Be available to assist rescue operations as required by Race Management

   Ø  Coaches within the course area must comply with requirements as rescue craft

·               Monitor Race Management radio frequency

·               Personnel to wear personal Buoyancy at all times afloat

·               Sign in and off to ASC Tower or Race Officer

·               Have at least 2 persons on board.

·               Not impede any racing yachts, or influence the outcome of racing

·               Provide coaching throughout the fleet to the level of their expertise

·               No coach should focus on one competitor for more than half of one leg

·               Coaches focussing on single boats or private squads must stay outside the course area.

 

   Penalties:

Coaches operating outside these guidelines are liable to have:

·               Registration removed

·               Sailors at risk of protest under Rule 41

·               Themselves at risk of protest under RRS Fundamental Rule 2
