SA Sailing Sisterhood

All SA Women and Girls who Sail are invited to attend:A lunch to launch the SA Sailing Sisterhood as the umbrella group for future female focussed sailing activities in SA,  at the CYCSA on 26th June 2016.

To quote Caitlin Moran “If they can’t see it, they can’t be it”

To show the female sailors in SA what they can aspire to, we have lined up several guest speakers:-

Stacey Jackson, who was a member of the first all-female team in the last Volvo Ocean Race, amongst many other achievements. She is now part of the Magenta Project

Shevaun Bruland, YSA Board member and co-owner of Concubine will present on her experience of getting into sailing as an adult and her Sydney to Hobart campaigns.

We are also sourcing a female International Official from the sport to speak about being involved with the sport from a different perspective, as we want the women and girls present to realise there are a multitude of ways to be involved in sailing.

Reason for Creating SASS:

Surveys have identified that whilst we have good numbers of girls sailing in the 7-15 age group, we are losing them as they age. We want to create a network of female sailors of all ages, to encourage and inspire the younger sailors to continue sailing throughout their lives and create opportunities for women of all ages to participate and compete at whatever level they want to.

Further information and tickets for the event can be found via the YSA website HERE
