With the Official close of entries to the 2017 Australian Laser Championships passing on Thursday 1st December, a record fleet of Lasers to hit the waters off Adelaide has already been set.
As the 1630 ACDT deadline passed, 205 entries have been received which surpasses the total entries from 2010 (196 entries) and 2003 (200 entries) the last two times the Laser Nationals have hit the waters of the Gulf St Vincent.
But the records do not stop there. The 2017 Australian Laser Championships will see the largest 4.7 fleet ever assembled for an Australian Championship.
At the close of entries 58 4.7’s have been entered, which surpasses the previous record of 54 in 2014 (McCrae YC, VIC). This is a fantastic sign of the growth in the class which has been fostered on the back of back-to-back Olympic Gold Medals in the Laser Class with Tom Slingsby (London 2012) and Tom Burton (Rio 2016) inspiring a new generation of sailors to emulate their feats.
Late Entries are still being accepted up until the 27th December. If you have not entered the event yet, click HERE to register for the Nationals.
