New Face and New Menu

ASC Members,

Brrrr, despite coming from Canada even I am finding this weather cold! I’m excited that the nice weather and sailing season is just around the corner.

Despite being slow in terms of sailing, let me assure you we have been very busy behind the scenes here at the Club. As you may have noticed, we have made numerous staffing changes in the last few months. One of those changes is in the kitchen, where I am very excited to introduce you to our new Head Chef  Kieren O’Rourke.

As you are aware, working on a long term sustainable business model for the club is paramount. In the short term (next 12 months), it is absolutely critical that we increase our bar/bistro turnover and profitability so that it starts to contribute positively to the bottom line. I can confidently say we now have the right leadership in the kitchen to accomplish this.

Kieren brings a wealth of experience, enthusiasm and overall leadership to the kitchen. Kieren has worked as a Head Chef in a variety of kitchens, ranging from cafes to fine dining, working all over Australia and even over in Europe. Kieren is most excited by the challenge ahead – building up a successful bistro on the back-bone of quality food people not only come back for, but that they tell their friends and family about. Please join me in welcoming Kieren to the Club.

Starting Wednesday, 12 August 2015 we will begin Kieren’s new menu. It is completely new and different from any other menu I have seen at the club – and I think that is a good thing, but we need to be open to change. The fact is a majority of club members have stopped eating regularly at the club – I dare you to drop-in (ideally make a reservation) and give it another shot, you won’t be disappointed.

Over the next few weeks Kieren is focusing on getting the kitchen running smooth and building the right team to support the busy season. Over the next 6-8 weeks you will also see changes to the ‘front of house’. I will continue to ask for your patience as we make these transitions and come out of our winter consolidation.  Bringing a positive and welcoming vibe to the Club is an important role I ask all members to work towards.

Looking forward to seeing you at the Club,
