Successful National Discover Sailing Day

The club participated in the National Discover Sailing Day last Sunday. 70 people registered or turned up on the day to sample what our sport and our club had to offer. Most people were new to sailing but some were sailors in their youth and were now looking to give their children the same opportunities. Participants saw the wonderful facilities our club has to offer and went for a short sail in Pacers, Cadets or Lasers. Lasers, Mosquito, and all the junior boats were on display as well as the A1 start boat, A7 RIB and the Sailing School. The Melges racing close to shore provided a perfect back drop to the event. Many thanks to Darren and the Sailing Development group, particularly the Junior Flag Officers and the Laser class for supporting the event. Feedback from participants was most positive with a number expecting to join the club and others planning to enrol in Sailing School courses as their next step. Another Discover Sailing Day may be planned for early in the new year.
