ASC Junior News Header.jpg

Thank you to the skippers and crews that has renewed their membership and registered their boats and crew for the 2017-18. If you have overlooked this please read on.

The new entry system for boats participating in the 2017/2018 sailing season, use the link at the end of this page. Once helm and crew have renewed their membership, please enter your boat for the coming season. If you intend to sail different boats, please enter each one. These entries will be recorded in our new database and used with our new scoring system. Only members' boats will be entered. Visitors remain particularly welcome and will be recognised in after-sailing presentations but will not be entered into the system for progressive points. Boats not entered by the end of Opening Day will need to enter via a paper form at the course board area.

An issue raised by sailors at the recent meeting was the fact that the current membership categories require all senior sailors to pay bulk nomination on top of their membership. This is seen as disadvantaging classes with 2 or 3 crew. Board and Committee members have considered and responded to this concern and agreed to introduce a crew membership category at a discounted rate from the full senior sailor rate, but with the same rights other than being able to skipper.

The new category of Senior Sailing Crew membership has been added with a discounted rate of $380.00, if you are a crew and have already paid your membership you can apply to the administration manager for a credit.

The changes to online renewal and boat entry will enable us to have a much greater check of membership. A top priority of the club is to focus on servicing it’s members. Only boats whose helm and crew are financial members will be entered into the scoring system and scored towards season awards. Substitute crew will be possible, please check the Sailing Instructions.

Please use the following links to complete your membership renewal and your boat(s) entry.

Thank you

Junior Parents SDG meeting Wednesday 20th September 7.00pm

The Committee of management will host a Sailing Development Group meeting on Wednesday the 20th September at 7.00pm in the Sunny South room.  We encourage all junior parents and any other interested members to attend.

This will be an opportunity to have your say and provide feedback to help improve what we deliver for our junior members.

The SDG group has operated a very successful junior programme for a number of seasons and provides many benefits for our junior members and their families.

A big thankyou to Colin Gordon who chaired this committee last season unfortunately due to other commitments Colin has stepped down as chairperson of the group.

We need your help

We need four or five people to meet once a month to organise and co-ordinate our junior program. It’s not difficult and lots of parents are prepared to help out. If you are interested but not sure what is involved don’t hesitate to give me a call.

IMPORTANT NOTICE-DAY ONE HOT UP SERIES CANCELLED

Unfortunately due to closure of the launching ramps ASC will not be able to launch race management boats for day one of the ASC HOT UP series this Saturday.

Dear All,

The West Beach Boat Launch will remain closed until Thursday, 7 September while seagrass is removed from around the ramps and in the channel.

The dredging operation has been successful, and a huge amount of seagrass has been removed from land and in the harbour.

We are expecting another storm front to arrive on Saturday evening, which will bring several days of strong wind that could force more seagrass into the harbour.  If that happens, we want to be prepared to be able to remove it as quickly as possible.

The Department of Planning, Transport and Infrastructure have issued a Notice to Mariners No 17 of 2017, advising boat users to use caution.

Alternative boat launching facilities are available at O’Sullivan’s Beach or North Haven.

Kind regards,

Melissa Coppi | Contracts & Leasing Manager
